16/09/2015 LittleHammer - revolutionises Nut Tools.
Chockstone is proud to announce that one of our members, TimP, has revolutionised nut tools with the invention of a spring loaded impact nut tool he has called LittleHammer.

Check it out here: LittleHammer spring loaded impact nut tool.

Stéphane Pennequin of Nuts Museum says of LittleHammer:
>“After the Ewbank’s open-ended grading system and the RP’s, would the LittleHammer be the next Australian climbing revolution…?”

Queens Birthday Weekend Tree Planting and Climbing Trip
Location: Mt Arapiles
Leader: Ollie Sherlock
Details: The month of June is a fantastic time to climb at Arapiles and also an ideal time for planting, with cooler weather and a bit of moisture in the ground. Why not come along and support the VCC and Cliffcare in helping to give back to a place that gives us so much . Plant your own tree in the Campground and watch it grow as you return to the Mount in coming years! The tree planting will happen on the Saturday morning commencing at 0900 and once the trees are in the ground, watered and guarded we can head out climbing. An old Greek Proverb says it all: A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in. The good news is that most of us will get to sit in their shade. This will be an annual event and hopefully over time will make a real difference to the campground and its environs. Photos: Ollie and son Flynn with seedlings grown from local Callitris Pine, Yellow Gum and Casuarinaseeds. All seedlings have been grown by Ollie from locally collected seeds. [ More ]

Winter Camp 2017
Location: Mt Feathertop
Leader: Philipp Hammes
Details: This Club Trip is now full. Please contact Philipp, the Tip Leader, as the Waiting List is open.   We're back - Yes the VCC is running another Mountaineering Program in 2017 and we're still working on the details. However the traditional Winter Camp trip is already locked in. Get the dust off your snow-shoes and pray for snow! We are hiking up Bungalow Spur, or across the Razorback (whatever ticks your fancy), and meet at Federation Hut for a fluffy snow camp. There you have the choice between: Just enjoying winter wonderland and cooking some snow OR Joining the mountaineers and practicing self-arrest, building a Swiss pulley system and doing other weird things.* If you haven't attended last year's Mountaineering Program or Winter Camp, there will be a mandatory mid-week briefing in Melbourne prior to the trip. This trip is suitable for all levels of experience, with limited spaces for beginners. Anna and Philipp, the trip leaders, have climbed 7000m peaks, camped three weeks on Denali, spent the night in a 100km/h snow-storm on top of Bogongand recently returned from a successful self-guided expedition to Ama Dablam. You will be in safe hands. Winter is coming. DAH DA DUH DA DAH DUH DA DA DA (dadadadadadadadadadadadaada) Contact Philipp, the trip leader, to secure your place or to get more information about snow camping. *You'll need an ice-axe, crampons and a climbing helmet at a bare minimum. More details regarding theMountaineering Program 2017 will be released once we're done with the planning. Feel free to email us any questions in the meantime. [ More ]
