wasn't sure to post this here,
but i was out at black ians rocks yesterday for the first time and noticed a bee/wasp nest about 7-8m off the ground, down the left end of the crag between the descent gully and the route barbed tongue (i didn't stick around to found out what they were!)
edit: just checked out the VCC beehive database and it was the beehive on snapper crack, didn't notice the one mentioned at the start of the jury box, but i wasn't looking for it either.

Talking about Black Ians Rock. The last time I have been there, there was a bee nest in Subpoena, very unconvieniently directly above the overhang

yeah that was there when we were there last year i think. I remember at the top, my mate dropped his belay device when we were packing up and it landed within inches of the bloody thing. I made him get it...

just a reminder that the bee hive in the dead tree near the right watchtower face rap station was very active and noticed a few bees at the base of the watchtower and out on the left watchtower face, when i was there yesterday.

There is a bee hive just left of Aphrodite, just next to the overhang on the last pitch.

I climbed Subpoena on Saturday - the nest is very active. FYI. I climbed past it very slowly and escaped without being stung. However, I was surrounded buy a swarm of them.

Caught a bit of todays news and saw Steve Monks and Hugh Widdowson receiving an award for rescuing Keith from the bee attack... I couldn't find anything on the web about it, guessing it will be in the mornings print media.

Interested in Collision Course wall and/or Fever Pitch wall this weekend - anyone have the latest on bee activity?

We were up around fever pitch wall 2 weeks ago, there was still an active nest up there. We were climbing Blue Hawaii, it didn't bother us there, but it looked pretty busy with bees on fever pitch wall.

Collision Course wall is OK. Don't know about Fever Pitch.

Heading to Arapiles this weekend with a friend who is allergic to bites and stings. Was wondering about the current bee situation, particularly on Tiger Wall and the Watchtower Rap Station. Would appreciate any up to date information. Thanks.

Do you recall where they were exactly, as I looked for them a couple of weeks ago and didn't see any. I'm
keen for those routes, but not keen on having Noddy's experience.

Over easter i was up there, did Blue Hawaii and belayed a mate on a climb on fever pitch wall (the name escapes me, grade 23), anyway, there were bees flying around and out off the main break on the wall a few metres left of the abseil line.

Can anyone post an update on Collision Course? Still OK?

Collision Course was fine when I was last there, not that long ago, and yesterday I was on Fever Pitch,
and no bees in sight, but it was a cool overcast day, so maybe the bees weren't that active.

Bump.
Is this still a problem?
I get given cans of Wasp Insecticide by my work. It's pretty lethal stuff designed for commercial and industrial use and it kills them pretty much on contact. I rarely use it but get given another can every month, so I have a bit of a stockpile building up.
If this is still a problem at certain parts of the Mount, I'd be more than willing to send a few cans down to someone in Nati if it would help.
