heya, the wombats had an epic and sadly left you all with no lengthy trip reports to read while you're at work...so i thought i'd cheer you all up a little with my own road trip reports!!
tel, butterfingers and myself are spending 1 month in the boulder fields of castle hill (and maybe/hopefully a little paynes ford tacked on the end) and we've come up with (what we think is) a pretty cool TR system which will all be revealed in time....
for now-

actually, now that i think about it mousey and tel, castle hill isn't all that special...the bouldering around sydney like sissy crag and lindfield rocks was better i thought....

How does it compare to the bouldering in Melbourne?

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I think Castle Hill bouldering would be far superior to anything around melbourne. Methinks I spy a troll......

Dalai, if you are reading this, is there any good bouldering around melbourne that you would pull the shoes
on for that does not involve bridges walls or other man-made structures and isn't just a couple of rocks in
a paddock (eg those ones near tulla airport) etc?

Alrob is a poor troll... read Alrobs trip reports part one and two to get an idea of what he really thinks about the NZ bouldering. I have read various reports saying the Castle Hill area is comparable to the best anywhere!!

ShinToe - If talking about Melbourne metropolitan areas, two main areas come immediately to mind within a 30km radius of the CBD - with a total of ~250 problems graded up to V7.

Further afield (day trip distance) is both the Sandstone of the Cathedrals and the best Granite outside Yosemite USA at Cobaw. Various other areas adds up to a reasonable selection IMO.

Woodlands Hill is very limited with only ~40 problems spread wide through the park and the granite is only okay.
