Stoked I finally managed to get my package from the hideously incompetent people at UPS after days of chasing and phone calls. I did have to drive out to the depot to get it. Maybe I should've put a car load of UPS staff in the car to show them what reading an address and driving to it with a package looks like?

stop talking about your package, it's not healthy

There is obviously a conspiracy against you Andrew. Maybe the people at Climbing magazine have been chatting and the word is out....

I don't think so, all the USPS stuff has been arriving fine. Just this one UPS package has been a problem. According to UPS's tracking site, they attempted to deliver it before it went to customs. If that's a common thing I can think of some people who'd be interested in sending a lot of stuff via UPS...
Speaking of magazines, I had a climbing arrive the other day that had postage from Zurich...

Don't worry, I heard that inflatable sheep always take a little longer to get delivered.

Stoked it's my final day at work. Exit interview: check! Handfuls of sweaty cash delivered in a brown paper bag (via Westpac): check. Ongoing networking meetings, all day: underway. Portaledge ownership dream: almost there....

Stoked to have climbed Grey Mist at Point Perp on the weekend.
Seconded Steve who onsighted the shit out of it. Best climb I've done in over a year I'd say, so many classy moves. Even in a wind so buffetting it _actually_ blew me off a move.
Thinking back, I actually can't remember the last route I did that was better than it. Certainly nothing on granite. Possibly the flake at Exploding Galaxies in the Wolgan?

Stoked things just get better and better with my burnt down house. Insurance coming through easily; small blessings popping up from all quaters and old friendships rekindled. This Christmas promises to be a real one with the focus on family, friends and new climbing gear...

Officially stoked with a successful trip to Arapiles!
Highlights include:
Meeting a whole host of different people from Queensland, Victoria, WA, Tasmania, NZ, Germany, England and probs a few more places.
Oceanoide - what a dam fine first pitch! So flowy and awesome!
Auto De Fay - Leading past five RP's in that flake on the second pitch was sooo daunting when I had no idea when the next gear would be.
The Invisible Fist (on Taipan) - stoked to have finally climbed on the wall and to have enjoyed such a classic route (even though it only gets 2 stars).
Trojan - my onsight attempt ended a metre off the ground when I couldnt place any gear from the kneebar. I proceeded to dog my way up then pinkpointed it next shot.
Kachoong - became a photo whore and lead Kachoong with a helmet camera on, I stopped at the lip to hang off one handed whilst the dude on the photo ledge snapped some photos (pity he only had an iphone).

Stoked to have visited a new (for me - it's been climbed on for decades) local bouldering area that was better than I was expecting - the Vacaville (aka Nut Tree) Boulders. Loads of cool basalt eggs scattered across a grassy hillside, with awesome views of the ridiculously snow-covered Sierras way off on the other side of the central valley.
Some piccies (unfortunately not great - my partner for the day hasn't been climbing long and didn't appreciate how hard you have to work to avoid an endless succession of bumshots...):
The view up the hill from the access gate. The further boulders in this pic are up to about 4m in height.
Nice unlisted V1, with the mighty snow clad Sierras in the far distance.
Hoping that my fat Christmas arse doesn't rip the entire lip of the boulder off...
There was an awesome technical V2 called "Cattle Drive" that started down and right of this roof, and traversed up to and into it. Not very hard once you worked out the moves, but it took me forever to puzzle it out!!

Amen to that - same applies for me! Without traffic it's a solid hour from SF, but with traffic (the norm!) that could easily extend to 2+ hours, and the area isn't worth sitting in a parking lot for that long for!
The good news is that the boulders are 5 minutes from a large batch of outlet malls, so next time the rellos are in town and all they want to do is shop for cheap crappy Chinese clothing with designer labels (yoohoo WM!), I finally have an option that won't leave me wanting to test the limits of seppoland's "justifiable homicide" laws.

Stoked to have climbed the shit out of Mt Geryon in the last week. Trip report to come once I'm home, but at the moment, visibly stoked to be back alive with some serious climbing under our belts.

Stoked on a couple fun weeks in Israel and on 2011 so far shaping up to be a much better year that 2010.. have done 56 skydives since xmas day (and I've had the last 2 days off!) and had lots of fun times/shenanigans with mates.
Also stoked on starting to get climbing-fit again so that I can combine it with my latest silly pursuits :)

Stoked because this evening I get my first glimpse of arapiles in the flesh (or the rock?), and hopefully arrive in time to jump on a boulder.
I'm giddy like a schoolgirl holding a boys hand for the first time. I better be careful or I might give myself a heart attack!
ARAPILES!
