i don't know, i've heared that the're not as strong as ring huts. circles are strong and they can roll down
hills. this can also aid in any rescues in the area. just throw the victim into the hut and remove the bolts
and away she goes!

Great point Phil.

It also applies to bans on mountain biking because of "erosion" in areas such as Manly Dam (NSW). Those in power conveniently overlook the golf course that was carved out of natural bushland on public land and the various fire trails.

National Parks commonly ban bolting and require special permission for climbing. Cliffs in my area being plastered with grafitti doesn't seem to be an issue. I wrote to our local council 4 times over 4 months about grafitti on rock faces, before I even had a response and that was only when I copied a newspaper. I'm still waiting for action. They probably would have reacted much more quickly if someone had complained about an "unsightly" bolt or an equally "unsightly" climber.

Thanks for letting us know Gerry. It's nice to know people are active in trying to retain the integrety of certain places.

30+ despite Rob's (Staszewski) best intentions to keep it a bolt free crag (while he may have objected, he never chopped a bolt that wasn't placed on already claimed territory at Viewpoint).

I admire the intention to keep Ben a bolt free area, but being fanatical about it serves no purpose. If numbers of climbers visiting the crag ever gets to the point where errosion becomes an issue, then the policy of no abseil anchors should be re-considered. :-)

Probably should be a national debate, especially since Rick White lost the ' war ' to preserve Frog as Australia's #1 trad-paradise .
