Subject: FW: Paul Carr memorial at Stapylton.
Dear Neil
Thank you for your email regarding the article in the Herald Sun reporting the
dedication of a plaque to the late Paul Carr from the Special Operations Group.
Generally Parks Victoria's operational policies don't allow for the
placing of plaques or memorials in national parks. This policy has been drawn
to the attention of the Special Operations Group. The Special Operations Group
has been very helpful in responding to this matter, and is making
arrangements to remove the plaque in two weeks time. I understand that a more
suitable site has been identified outside the Park on private property.
Should you require further information on this matter, please contact me on 53564381.
Yours sincerely
Graham Parkes

After they stomped on my head at S11 many years ago and boke my $700 altimeter watch they deserve some form of hassle from me!

Were you one of those spitting at the police, throwing ball bearings at the police horses or throwing urine filled condoms at the police Neil?
Great follow up on the plaque as well ;)

I don't remeber - i got smashed in the head by a horse hoaf and had to take a friend to the ambulance with severe head injuries - all the while the Police were laughing at us. It was a great night out for all involved.

Yeah! Go Neil! Go Neil! Just cos the SOG can force sherpas to retrieve Paul's body from 7,000 metres doesn't mean they can push Parks Victoria around...

The "Great Outcome" was in relation to the memorial plaque at Stapylton.
I know people on both sides of the S11 protests. One was a protester and one was a policeman. Both of them saw theselves as being assaulted by the other side.
I wasn't there and I won't presume to comment more (I'm bloody glad that I wasn't there).

"two weeks" eh?
Assuming it's the big thing directly above serpentine and about 3m back from the edge(didn't exactly have time to go read it), it was still there last weekend

Neilo, bugger that you got smashed, a heavy handed response from the police as per usual.
However, S11 and the other protests against corporate tyranny were very misguided and naiive exercises. Trying to blockade like that is deliberately provocative and violent and I don't understand why people were surprised when it got ugly. I haven't even got started on how the philosophy behind the whole anti-globalisation/anti-corporate movement is fundamentally flawed and devious. These people would like to see us living in a Soviet kolhoz under their own rule

actually i often wonder about how much power the cops really do have...if they hesitate they're a dead hero, if they do their job properly then they are spat on for a breaking a few noses...
>Trying to blockade like that is deliberately provocative and violent and I don't understand why people were surprised when it got ugly
ay ay capnt birdseye, but of common sensical before we join the picket line
>fundamentally flawed and devious

Thank you Neil - I will bring this to the attention of the SOG's. I am
disappointed that this hasn't been followed through as agreed.
