Good afternoon, climbers.

STATUS REPORT - BURNLEY PROJECT

The galvanising of our steel framework is now completed. The next step is therefore the installation of the framework. I am now working on mobilising the installation team. For many of you, the appearance of the framework at the site will be the first visible evidence that the Burnley wall will in fact be a reality again. Exciting stuff ! The new year is going to be a busy one !

At this point I would love to hear from anyone with access to discounted paint (specifically weatherproof paint). If you can assist the project in this regard, please send me a PM.

Please stay tuned for further updates.

If you are available to assist in the Burnley area on this day, please notify me via PM. I need to know your full name, phone number and email address.

Good afternoon all

We are seeking to borrow a generator for use on works for the Burnley Project throughout the course of next week. If you can help, please send me a PM!

Generator needs to run a couple of lights and power tools. Apparently 5 KVA is sufficient...

Thankyou,

Jacqui Middleton

Burnley Status Report

Good afternoon climbers,

I am pleased to report to you that the first pieces of steel framework were attached to one of the new Burnley Bouldering walls yesterday.

Kicking off the "Steel Framework" phase of the Project, a team of 12 dedicated people worked right through the day and evening hours to make this happen. It is certainly a big job, and as such I think I speak for all climbers in Victoria and beyond in saying that we very much appreciate the efforts of everyone that helps on the Project. If you are amongst those that have already assisted or offered to assist on the Burnley Project, you can be proud to know that you've helped to build something that will be incredibly important to the Victorian Bouldering Community.

If you would like to assist in the forthcoming phases of the Project, I would like to invite you to send me a PM, listing your name, email address, phone number, and any special skills, equipment or materials you may have that can assist the Project (upcoming tasks will seek the expertise of carpenters, painters, high access workers and routesetters). Please note that you need not be a tradesperson or routesetter to assist - there are plenty of tasks to do that do not require specialist skills.

In appreciation of your patience on the delivery of the new Burnley Bouldering Walls, I will keep you up-to-date with progress by providing you with pictures of the construction zone.

Once again, thankyou to everyone that has assisted on the Project thus far. I look forward to working with everyone to see these walls come to life!

Best wishes

Awesome work.
Well done to all involved.
It is good to see a 'community spirit' happening amongst climbers et al, and the photos bring to life just how large this project is.
Thanks climbingjac for the update.

Hey all, how is ya's
This is an interesting thread, being from nsw I've only just heard about this, so what is the deal...is this getting built under a bridge judging by the pics. And what is being used as holds and if using normal indoor holds how are they going to be attached without some little thief stealing them all.

Hi yak,

Yes it will be under a bridge in the suburb of Burnley. Resin holds as per in the gym will be used. Measures are in place to ensure people can't steal the holds. I have no intention of publishing that method on an open forum though :-)

Cheers,
jac
