I think it quite fitting that I have the final word on this thread, as I tuck Hexy in to bed, wipe the dribble from his chin and warm up a nice big mug of milk. Sleep tight Hexy......Zzzzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzzzz

These final words from Jean-Marie Leblanc and Christian Prudhomme, directors of the 2006 Tour de France, are befitting for this historical occasion

"On the 21st of February we turned the page on a long, very long chapter in the history of Chockstone. Subsequent events made it clear to us that it was just as well that this was so.

Does this justify closing the entire book and erasing all the emotions that, for so many years, "Havashat" and its protagonists have provided us with? Taken as a whole, judged on its lifelong worth – like an artist or a poet – and in particular on its future productions, we want to believe that Chockstone deserves a better fate. The dream that it embodies, the values that it is capable of generating mean that it has a duty to be able to hold its head up in pride.

It is towards this goal that we are working, as of now, which begins with the announcement of the end of "Havashat" as we know it. All of those, still as many in number and still as enthusiastic, who have faith in the sport and the men, will join us in our future hopes for Chockstone.

Vive la Chockstone, et farque-orff-l'Hexy!

Jean-Marie and Christian"

What's a "fetus"? Is it the plural of "fetid"? Actually when the pic was downloading I thought it was Mr Onsight with another pic of a hot Euro-babe ... well ... I suppose I got that bit about the 'babe' right. Unless of course it's Sigourney Weaver 8-0

Not wanting to discuss off topic but I was doing some catching up today.. The bit on Everest, was that a pi$$ take or do you reallyhave to allow 2 months for the summit trip?

Excuse my ignorance.

yes 2 months is normal- the climbers leave high camp on about the 3rd of the month, hillaries step is generally reached by about the 18th, to ensure that thy dont run out of supplementary oxygen climbers must attain the actual summit by no later than the 11th of the second month, and turn around to descend by the 22nd. an experienced party would normally then descend as far as camp 4 that same week, and be back in base camp by the 2nd or 3rd day of the 3rd month.
if there are any struggles such as tired legs or the party runs out of party-poppers or dipping sauce for the biscuits, this 2 month estimate can be significantly extended.

na, but only if you want to die of High Altitude Sickness because you didn't allow enough time for aclimatisation!!!
Yea 2 months is fair, and if you miss the window of oppertunity (which is very small) there is chance for a second later on in the month extending the trip by much more. the most time is spent hauling supplies up the mountain to higher camps then comming back down for a rest then going back up etc.

mousy ur schedule seems to be fairly flawless, care to try it out next season?!!

Thanks... here I was thinking that spending a week getting used to the altitude was normal---enough.

Something I never looked into.
