– Tasks you are not truly motivated for may always remain beyond your reach, tasks you are deeply motivated for take you on a long and convoluted route around the barriers that circumstances create. Sometimes, in the thick of the maze of circumstances, you realise your motivation is not deep enough and its best to try something else. But when the motivation remains through deep frustration, the results are always… always… just around the corner.

Everyone has people in their lives that are gay, lesbian or transgender or bisexual. They may not want to admit it, but I guarantee they know somebody.

You're talking of vangogh?....OK you're so clever who was it that in his impassioned denial of VG's
insanity said,

"...cooked only one of his hands, and other than that did no more than cut off his left ear, ...."

damned google...next time i'll give less away....here's the only weblink to a portion of this essay that I
could find (slightly different translation to what i posted above)...

http://www.artseensoho.com/Life/readings/artaud.html

Here's another artaud link..."To have done with the judgement of god"...I saw this being read a couple
of years ago in a theatre in London with images of the iraq war being used as a backdrop.... i thought
it was pretty powerful though 1/4 of the audience left before it ended :(

http://ndirty.cute.fi/%7Ekarttu/tekstit/artaud.htm

Finally, if you've no time to read the link here's a quote from the above (no, not the wall of the arapiles
bog)

"There where it smells of shit
it smells of being"

An idealist is one who, on noticing that a rose smells better than a cabbage, concludes that it will also make better soup.

Probably no point posting this with the M10 stalker about but for what it's worth ; I used this from Margaret Mead for my Stapylton Amphitheatre Guide many years ago:

"If you set a course and bend your sails to every wind that furthers the journey, always trusting that the course is right, it will, in fact, be right even though the ship itself may go down at any time during the voyage" Margaret Mead, Blackberry Winter

apart from the anonymous personal digging & bullying which i think is extremely objectionable. I have to
say for christ's sake bring on the trolls...they make the forums worth checking during a boring week in the
office and also manage to make it pretty obvious who are the twats amongst the so called "climbing
community"

back to the thread:

There have been joys too great to be described in words, and there have been griefs upon which I have
not dared to dwell; and with these in mind I say: Climb if you will, but remember that courage and
strength are naught without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a
lifetime. Do nothing in haste; look well to each step; and from the beginning think what may be the end."

Edward Whymper, "Scrambles Amongst the Alps" - 1865

This may have been posted. I'm not sure as I haven't read the entire thread. It's written by a French dude who had a pretty crap time soloing the Shroud on the Grandes Jorasses.

"Of what use are extreme faces? It is within that we find the most insurmountable barriers. We shall not find the seventh grade beyond the sixth, but within ourselves."
