"When in doubt run it out, When in fear place more gear" toilet wall Arapiles campground (reportedly written/said by Wolfgang Gullich)

and heres one for me when instructing abseiling

"Just lean back, spread your legs, and put your thumb up your bum" (for some reason this doesn't go down so well when dealing with young female students)

Overheard at KP in Brisbane…

First time climber a meter into ‘Cornflake Crack’, “So where do I go from here?!”.

An onlooker pipes up, “UP!”

I had a bit of chuckle....

"maybe we should have brought a head torch"

eg after pulling the ropes with a couple of hours of day light left and needing to get 4 people down two more 50m abseils and climb 6 pitches out, followed by an hr+ walk out.

I had my headtorch. Jette had hers. We brought an extra club one. I think the quote may have been "Maybe you should have brought a headtorch"?

no, i'm talking about this weekend, with Nik, Iain and Liam. 0 from 4. i actually thought about mine but it got lost in everyone elses stuff in the morning and i figured the others would have one. also didn't expect losing 2 hrs or so retrieving a stuck rope, which involved climbing up some random chossy overgrown corner crack. but it was a full moon (except for the overcast sky..) and we did manage to top out at 7pm in the end, not bad.. ended up doing 160m of climbing in 3 pitches of a 50m rope :)

Overheard this one today at Burbage South after one of our group made a meal of one rather gruesome mantel-shelf finish - "he's showing all the grace and athleticism of an epileptic hippo!"

My apologies then. Man, you should have your headtorch permanently attached to you. You are the epic master.
