May have been already quoted on this thread.
"We climb not to escape life, but that life will not escape us."

On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow.
Friedrich Nietzsche
Whenever I climb I am followed by a dog called 'Ego'.

from a photo of an alley i once saw, something along the line of
"Those who take risks don't live long, those who don't take risks never live at all"
or one from Alan Watts
"to spend a length period of time in the forest or mountains, a period of coming to terms with the solitude and non-humanity of nature is to discover who, or what, one really is - a discovery hardly possible while the community is telling you what you are or ought to be"

don't get me started on Nietzsche....I promise I'll try and restrain myself....BUT...here's one...
"To be sure, how could he who never lives at the right time ever die at the right time? If only he had
never been born!- Thus do I advise the superfluous"
full section here... http://www.kahlil.org/zarathusra-21.html
Ok...sorry but heres another (can't find it online but its from "human all too human" chapter "from the
souls of artists and writers #170):
"To aspire to honour here means: 'to make oneself superior and to wish this superiority to be publicly
acknowledged'. If the former is lacking and the latter nonetheless still demanded, one speaks of
vanity. If the latter is lacking and its absence not regretted, one speaks of pride."

-- Brief Hijack of thread topic --
What is with all of these people turning up all of a sudden imitating the user name of "M9iswhereitsat" ?!?!?!
First we had M10iswhereitsat, now M9whereistaht.... I've got nothing against Aid-climbers, I'd like to try some aid at Buffalo myself sometime... but this is getting a bit silly...

Orright !... yet another potential Aid Climber (we live in hope?); who thinks my user ID is sufficiently interesting enough to emulate (of sorts); ... thanks for the flattery ;-)
~> Might soon have enough of us to rival Canberra-Chris's 21st Nth Wall of Buffalo Portaledge Party! ... be sure to wear a flower in your helmet !! ... but I digress;... oh yeah, where was I? That's right, ... I am now eligible for an Alzheimer’s onsight or there must be something wrong with the Chocky 'search' function; ... as I can't find where I said that.
This is a letdown (!); as from a stats point of view it would have boosted my post count !! ... Not to worry since already having the 70,000th post under my belt, it will be a while till the next milestone comes along.
Now that there are three of us going for it, the competition is healthy and Chocky stats are looking good for the forseeable future.
...Need to go and review the rack for the next lead, as I think its got too many duplicates of the wrong size* Hex on it.
(*They are all too small for the gnarly offwidth I heard is higher up; unless M10 wants to lead it. ~ I heard its depths are too slippery to get enough friction to have even a ghost of a chance of getting up it)!
;-)
... hijack ended. OK to resume topic ...

LOL
If I did not already have the original title I'd join you in that bp!
Don't know why it is so popular, ... after having had it a while now I was thinking it was getting a bit stale and about time I changed it again!

In the bigger picture I'd say not climbers but miners.
