Okay, 5 mins of design work, gives me this:

Table: Trip
Fields: TripID, FromDate, ToDate, Location, Description, DateAdded, UserAdded, Invite (All/Limited), Status (Open/Cancelled)

Table: TripAttendees
Fields: TripID, UserName, Status (Invited/Confirmed/Tentative/Rejected), DepartDateTime, TransportDetails

Table: TripComments
Fields: TripID, UserName, DateAdded, Comments

* Ability to populate Trip Attendees from a previous trip. Thus, avoiding the need to define groups of users. Trying to keep it simple for now.
* Attendees status begins as "Invited". If Trip status is not "All" then only said attendees can view the trip details.
* Nominated attendees get an auto PM informing them of the newly added trip
* Details can be hashed out in the trip comments.

Feedback welcome. Don't know when I'll have the time to code it, but will keep this design on my desk and see what happens.
