Climbing mostly in th bluey's on 50m doubles (8mm) i've not had a single moment when
i've wanted an extra 10m going up. Even at that lenght and weight the drag at the end of
a long pitch is horrendous, as is the amount of gear required to protect such a long
pitch. There's been a couple of occasions that the extra 10 m might have been useful on
the way down e.g. being left hanging 5 m above the ground after rapping in the wolgan -
but i can't say i'd really want to drag around the extra rope for those very few occasions
- maybe 1 in 100 days on the rock. |
