Wet Woody? 2-Apr-2009 At 11:21:56 PM devlin66

I've built a free standing woody of sorts in the back yard here in Bisbane. I have used 100 C section purlins for the frame and 15mm ply from the Boral Timber outlet store. I just used house paint to seal the front side and used overlapping tarp on the rear to protect it from the weather. For the T nuts before you bang them in the panels give them a really good coating of motorbike chain wax. Also coat the bolts and let them 'dry' before using them. You'll not have any problems with them from rusting. The front side never gets wet as it's stored at 20-30 deg overhanging.

For the mat I used two 600mm high queens size air mats that now live in a big bag stitched up from a double layer of shade 90% cloth, not the car cover you see in the picture. The only issue I have had is a few very small tears at the internal rid ends. Easily fixed with a small puddle of Seamgrip

I have it mounted on two treated pine logs concreted into the ground hinged at the bottom with a 12v electric winch for raising and lowering. I am moving it and will convert it to a free standing frame with the pivot at mid height and can then do away with the winch.

This is just an idea of an outside wall. For the garage set it at 45 deg and have it hinged at the top so it can be pushed up against the roof for storagae. Just use lots of bigger holds like Uncarved Blocks 45 deg set. If you get the big air mat it only takes about 2-3 mins to blow up with the inbuilt pump. It also deflates it just as quick.

Your main problem is the insideous(sp?) cold that you get in Canberra. When you sitting around outside it can be down right miserable, especially if the wind is blowing off the Bella's.
