You've done well for testing this. Tensile testing machines would normally be fairly easily available at in the Material Science Department at various universities, however they might not have the correct type of jaws to grip the sling. You really need some sort of bar to hang from the jaws, but this leads to inaccuracies in the loads determined. Strangely enough it may pay to find the textile department as they might have more appropriate testing equipment.
To gain access all you need to do is wander in and ask. Most unis don't have an issue doing things like this. |
