a good easy option is just thermals and nylon pants over the top. it gives some layering, a bit of wind protection, holds up in the wet ok & still gives you a fair amount of movement. i got a pair from rays outdoors for about 40 or 50$, you don't have to pay through the nose for north farce type ones.

stepping up from that would be thermals, fleece & shell pants like sabu said but thats getting bulky, but i doubt you'd need to do that unless you're snow camping or at 5000 metres.

other options- take some warm socks and a compact down jacket to put on at belays if its for a climb. taking your climbing shoes off and giving your feet some breathing space in a nice warm pair of socks can be really nice.
