There have been some mentions of 'homemade' gear in the past few months and I am interested to hear what people have actually made (especially pro) for particular situations and used. And how could they actually trust what they had made. (M9 = a cheat stick (WTF?), BP = an aid hammer from some other type of hammer).

My claim to fame is a set of ets I decided to sew up myself because the knots were sh!tting me. i reinforced the steps and joins, and the stitching seems to have held the first few climbs but am watching carefully how it holds. I figure that if they fail the rope will catch me and I will learn a lesson or two. Would have been cheaper to buy some when time is included at the end of it (lesson no. 1) but I like making stuff.
