my current shoes are lace-up Anasazi & while I have lots & lots of room in the heel, they've never felt like they will come off. have you tried the Scarpa Vision? my feet are wide (esp at the front) & they fitted really well - I only didn't buy them 'cause I had other new shoes in the cupboard. But I'll definitely check them out closer when it comes time for the next pair of shoes. PS: I tried the lace-up Vision, not sure if they're the same as the velcro versions.
