I’m using two petzl micro traxions for TR solo now.
Have previously just used a gri-gri with a knot tied in high enough off the deck that should gri-gri fail to arrest fall I wouldn’t hit ground. I never felt unsafe, it’s just painful as it doesn’t feed smoothly. Micro traxions much better in that regard, gri-gri better for working a Crux and lowering repeatedly, lowering with traxions a bit more time consuming, especially if not near a bolt or anchor.

I have used it on slab to slightly overhanging routes.

I was also inspired to have a look at some lead solo vids on YouTube - this looks a good system, but have zero experience using it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzJZSLhjPm0. I may give it a try sometime in the next 6 months :(
