Let your feet get wet during the day but definitely, definitely keep them dry overnight - trench foot is not pleasant. Just wear any old crappy runners that work for the specific conditions you're doing (volleys throught to fancy synthetic aerated trail running shoes...whatever). Your feet get sodden during the day but then dry them off, whack on some new socks on and keep your feet/socks dry by putting them in freezer bags before inserting them back into the wet shoes. Works like a charm and oh so stylish around camp.
