I took offence at this statement. So i looked up "does goretex work" and came up with some corkers. The first supports many of my arguements i posted earlier (I swear it was the first link I clicked - I didnt' sift it out of many options) and the second link was my third choice. (My second choice was about timberland leather boots vs goretex boots - a pretty pithy article).

Anyway, choose whatever propaganda you want, but some interesting points raised in both (long articles/comments though... (and a bit older))

second link purporting that first gen goretex = good, second = rubbish. dated 1984, but gives interesting insight into how goretex "works"
