Frenchman's you don't need boots. Just change socks and check your feet. Definitely not the Overland. Expect your feet to get wet through the mud though. I was taught I needed boots for everything but they suck. I only wear them if I want to attach things, like skis or crampons, most of the time. Unless you really like the feel of boots. Some people do.
