That's correct Glenn, but the actual ring bolt was not left in place. You carried a small number with you to screw into place as you came to the threaded socket portion and then the second removed them for reuse later on the climb (or elsewhere of course).
Their visual impact was less than that of a carrot but, alas, the safety was somewhat questionable in our softish Blue Mountains sandstone.
