It would be interesting, but expensive, to test some 10mm stainless steel mechanical bolts. Like the various Fixe 10 x 75mm, 10 x 90mm and 10 x 95mm expansion bolts. I have always wondered how strong the 10 x 75mm would be in good sandstone. I have only used them on granite, but sometimes when placing Fixe 10 x 95mm double expansion bolts on less than vertical middle grade Grampians routes which are never going to see much falling I wonder whether something smaller might be perfectly adequate. You would think that a 10 x 75mm would be better than an old hammer in carrot. But who knows if they aren’t tested. The 10 x 90mm Powers thru bolt is another one it would be interesting to test on good sandstone as it is a cheaper and more readily available option to the Fixe.
