Chances are if your house is old enough that a few bolt holes don't matter then the verandah is only held together by skew nailing, and not designed or strong enough to take a horizontal pulling load, which is what you would be exerting near the top of a 30 degree woodie. The force will increase exponentially as you increase the angle of the woodie.
Face it towards the house if you have room, or you will have to create an A frame to direct the top load back to the floor. |
