hi Li.
yes there are many options. i have 3 pairs of boots to give you an idea.
leather boots are good for NZ, alps, patagonia type stuff IN SUMMER. i have the sportiva trango evo
extremes. fantastic dextrous boot.
for himalayas up to 7000m , nz in winter. i have a pair of the plastic scarpa omegas with the thermofit
liner. if you only want to buy one pair of boots get these. they are very dextrous , warm,light comfy
and climb steep ice really well. i used these in scotland too.
then above 7000m in himalayas or cold alaskan routes I have a pair of la sportiva spantiks.
for approaches where you dont want to wear your heavier plastics or leathers .get a pair of lightweight
goretex lined approach shoes like the salomons xa3d pro.
look after your feet and think about getting a pair of heat moldable inner soles to replace the stock
standard ones that come with the boots.
