don't know if this'll help but i had an issue with ongoing tightness leading to knee pain eventually. i didn't know it was tightness cos i wasn't sore but my knee pain was what raised the concern. turned out my big leg muscles were staying tight between frequent outdoors sessions. the solution was sitting on a spikeball/pointy rock from time to time - weird but true! apparently it releases the glutes/leg muscles or something.
