i climbed for many years with my partner and found myself quite frequently yelling things like go man go when i was terrified for him or staring at him 10 m run out 15 m from the ground and trying not to think too much about consequence. i also watched him rap of the end of his rope as i had complete faith in his ability to not make such stupid mistakes (broken ankle). At the end of the day if your on the sharp end its your responsibility and if your belaying thats your job not thinking about the relationship you have with the climber. its tough but you cant feel guilty about the decisions someone else makes on the sharp end no matter if there you husband best friend ect ect ect!
