Inflammation will contribute to pain and you will take it easy for longer but that's not an "aim" of
inflammation, it's a consequence. The body would not damage itself further to heal itself. The main
"aim" of inflammation, imo, is to check for and respond quickly to infection which (for most of our
history) was the most serious consequence of injury. Pain is what tells us that something is wrong,
take it easy.

Most of us do that. I guess we weekend warriors need to think more like professional sportspeople.
