Climbing seems to affect my patella tendon....The day after I have alignment issues (Patella pops out)...Anyone had similar experience? I've decided to rest the knee for a couple of weeks...

which one (hope this isn't a dumb question) ? I dislocated my patella nearly 2 years ago & damaged the
medial collateral at the same time. its still weak - I still climb but it troubles me on the approaches etc.
but also recently I strained the medial collateral on the other knee.. was drop-kneeing & I weighted it a bit
much (reversing a move)... felt like it was about to dislocate & made a VERY loud noise.

both my knees make funky crackling noises now. all I've got from the physio & orthapedic surgeon is (1)
I have a propensity to dislocations & (2) strengthen the muscles round the knee to help stablise it (ie
specific weights). Failing that, it was hinted that further surgery was the next option - which I am avoiding
like the plague.

I dislocated my patella in Feb this year. I've really only in the last month started climbing again. Very apprehensive towards drop knees now, and feel weakness after a hard session training in the gym. I'm too scared to stop taping it. How did you get over this hurdle?
And same advice, lots of strengthening for that leg. I lost a lot of muscle whilst on crutches so that whole leg is pretty weak still.
But really if you stick with the strengthening exercises, keep climbing, and keep motivated, it shouldn't be giving you too much hassle. My personal advice, keep away from the drop knees!!

I've been wearing a strap that wraps around the leg under the Patella. It generally works wonders....When the Patella goes out of alignment or comes out of place there is a scrucnhy sound and feeling YOUCH...The knee swells up...

A guy who has the problem with BOTH knees at my BJJ class showed me how to reallign the patella...

However, I think I just need to be kinder to my knee!
