Went up to the Gold Coast last month to escape the heat in Adelaide, got a car and went out to Frog a couple of times. One morning I was halfway up Clockwork Orange Corner when I heard but couldn't see a sizable creature coming down the scree slope. Didn't sound like a wallaby, it wasn't stop-start movement, and it was coming my way. I was getting a little concerned and then it appeared, a bloody big goanna. I was then concerned for the banana I'd left on top of my bag, but mercifully he or she ignored it and continued down the slope. Frog is a great place. A couple of days later at Byron I had a standoff with what was evidently a water dragon. You guys like your lizards big up that way!
