What dates in August are you looking at?

The Blueys are a touch cold at the moment (doable if you pick your day!), but Nowra is certainly lovely - those sorts of cool days where you just want to bask all day in the warm glow of the sun. Nowra is about 2.5hr from Sydney, though - which makes it okay for a day trip but great for an overnighter.

The Sydney crags that I would recommend would be Berowra, Narrabeen, but absolutely Barrenjoey - a crag you can catch the bus to from the city (an hour and a bit), a hit with the travellers because not only is it the same location they shoot Home and Away, but you can also get the mandatory photo on Cranky overlooking the water (below, stripped off google)
