Text, pics and video are over here. Basically we only got up one pitch of grade 18 before calling it a day. Probably the least sucessful day trip we've ever done. Ah well.

Classic! A real alpine adventure in the flatlands of country Victoria. I would be a bit worried about the rapping off from a single bolt.

Yeah, I wasn't too enthused about the idea either, despite it being a shinny fat looking bolt. So there's a plate and locker up there if anyone is feeling spritely.
Note to beginners: do not rap off a single anchor point ever (unless it's a huge healthy tree or bomb proof bollard the size of a house). It's only us cheap ass, supposedly more experienced climbers who bail off single bolts and one day the decision may prove fatal. Never, never bail off a single nut placement. A friend nearly died doing this.

I always think of the infamous Dave Jones story @ Taipan. He got to the top of Snake Flake (26), clipped into one bolt of the two bolt anchor, untied, re-threaded his rope, and went ot lower off. The bolt he had been hanging on then fell out and luckily for him the other bolt held.
