Bunked off yesterday afternoon from work to check out the urban bouldering in Griffith. The first thing I came to had chalk and ticks all over it. Does anyone know anyone who's been bouldering here? Perhaps a Euro backpacker?

Mt Scenic?

Antho Alexander and Jason Piper have done a couple of trips there, have a scout through their Flickr pages for pics:

I have viewed their pics before and the place looks awesome. They were always very cagey about the exact location .

Thanks mofo. You have helped me solve the riddle. Google maps validated my theory. Mt Scenic is Scenic Hill Reserve, Griffith.

he he he ! (dances a little jig)

Known locally as the Hermit's Cave from a hermit who lived there in the past, and built elaborate stonework (mostly destroyed).

Any time you want to visit let me know.

The bouldering in Griffith is quite reasonable. There is even some potential for short routes. There are quite a few spots about apart from the area near the Hermit's cave. Higher on the hill to the left there are numerous problems. Lower down right near the houses there is some good highball stuff. I was there around four years ago and found some chalk about then. The mountain bike track is also good fun.
