Limestone Gorges in Spanish Pyrenees

Whilst driving around the Spanish Pyrenees on a family holiday last week, I stumbled across a system of superb looking limestone gorges. They are on the El Segre and Rio de Lavansa rivers, about 15 km south of La Seu d'Urgell, which is in turn about 15 km south of Andora. Kilometres of superb looking limestone from boulder size to about 200m high. I took plenty of photos, and subsequently spotted a couple of climbers on a multi pitch route in one of them

I can't believe I've never heard of this place as a climbing destination. Does anybody know anything about it? (Neil?)

The Jingo Wobbly Europe Sport Vertical guide mentions three crags in that area, Raco Narienda-Organya, Perles and Coll de Nargo. This might rings some bells for someone.

Have done some single pitch stuff further south in Villa Nova de Meia. I had thought most of the high pyranees rock was granite but never managed to check it out. Anyway - jealous!

I know nothing! All the rock i saw in the Pyrenees was granite. I am however not at all surprised that you found epic limestone in Spain. They have no shortage of it!

I met someone who was bolting some steep 2 pitch stuff in the area you are talking about, on the East side of the main highway and river, just North of the town of Coll de Nargo and visable from the highway.

* I just Google searched,and there are lots of guides for these areas. There are stupid amounts of steep limestone in this area.

There's also Tres Ponts further South

Certainly saw a lot of nice looking granite higher up but had a guide book handy.

Where are there not epic looking Limestone walls in Spain?! Beautiful area around the Spanish Pyrenees isn't it, how are the vultures!

Yep, the vultures were impressive. I was there about 40 years ago as a small boy, and remember the vultures from then. A marvellous part of the world.
