Without getting too far off topic and into the great bolting debate. The difference with your scenario (stuck gear) is that potentially you could have someone up there every day chipping out their stuck gear. The potential for rapid damage is much higher. At least a bolt lasts 10 years or whatever and bolting is normally done in a premeditated controlled way.
For the record I'm not the biggest fan of bolts either (for the same reasons) but like I said it's a whole other discussion..... |
