Okay bro climber; I see from your response that you are careful with your monitory resources, have lots of imagination, empathy, social constraints and friends, but I am curious if you also subscribe to the anarchistic nature often exhibited by trad climbers of old.
For example, I doubt that despite having most of those attributes you list, the perpetrator of the Compressor Route on Cerro Torre was concerned with the cost of the bolts, or the compressor he used, to put up that contentious route.
I’m not suggesting that you are contentious, but instead am suggesting it probably isn’t unreasonable for those following a dream to spend the $ required to achieve it.
