Hey,
My folks are in country for a few months. My pop is keen on traveling around in a van for the month of February. Any incite in to the second hand toyota Hi-Ace conversion market? Suggestions on companies to rent from?
The nutters are thinking Melbourne North to Darwin and around to Perth. Seriously. Keep in mind they have bounced around many of the biggest deserts and deepest jungles there are.
Any beta or offers would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Sol

Wicked Vans, amongst others, seem to be popular and cheap*.
(* If they epic in the 45+ degree heat of end of summer in central/northern Oz, they wouldn't want to have spent a fortune doing it... ;-) )

Sol, I was starting to think you didn't exist anymore! I've never incited a second hand toyota. Do they rear up and bite?
That's an awful lot of driving to fit into Feb. Not to mention that it will be blisteringly hot. A lot of the top end/kimberly will have limited access to to wet season flooding. Unless they get a 4wd, rental insurance policies won't cover them driving on dirt roads, which is almost everything but the main highways up there. Other than all of those considerations, it'd be a great trip. Some mindblowing country out there. I'd take at least 3 months to do it and start in April or May though.
