We stayed at Tyawan and I recommend it. Owned by a climber. Nice house, feels just like you're staying at your climbing buddy's place, with a relaxing vibe, nice collection of books/magazines and random art, and good rates.
The link in that thread doesn't appear to work, but I've emailed the owner recently and it still appears to be available for rent. If you're interested PM me and I'll send you his email address.

Maybe also try http://www.bluemountainsescapes.com.au/. We just had a week at The Camp in Blackheath and it was really pleasant.

Best place to stay in the mountains is the Flying Fox in Katoomba. Excellent cosy backpacker place in railway parade. Stayed there a couple of times on our annual Blue Mountains holiday and cant recommend it highly enough.

Bundys joint has a really comfortable lounge for sitting/going coma in next to the fire. Best bed in the house.
