Hey all,

I've been a lurker here for a long time, figured I'd join and try to offload some stuff i don't really use anymore.

Beastmaker 1000 - SOLD

I love this hangboard, but in my new unit, I just can't get it mounted the way I want to, and it seems a shame to just leave it sitting in a cupboard. Add to that a recent elbow injury, and I think it'll do better on someone elses wall. The wood is great on your hands, and the slopers in particular are smooth, tough and great training.

I got it for about $170 on special I think, and it retails for $189 at Mountain Equipment. I'd love to see $100 for it.

Moon Cypher Pants - large size

Great climbing pants, very tough and very comfy. In fact the only reason I'm getting rid of them is because I've lost about 8 kilos since I bought them, so the large fit is a little too big for me now. The Moon website says that the large fit would be good for someone who wears a size 32, I'd suggest that they are just a touch bigger than that.

The pants are in great condition, but the snap locks on both hip pockets came off on a trip down to Mt. Alexandra. I've had them professionally repaired with velcro fastenings (see the picture below).

I got them for $120 at Mountain Equipment a while ago. I guess $50 would be a fair price?

Apologies for the dodgy mobile phone pictures.

Pickup from 2015 or 2065, or pay postage.

I know most people don't like making stuff anymore.......but come on! That hangboard is the easiest thing in the world to build yourself. If you can borrow a router, it'll be done in half an hour. With a drill and a round file, maybe 2 hours. The wood should cost about 10 bucks.

Why does anyone spend $190 on these things????

Division of labour is the foundation of civilisation. Beastmaker make better hangboards than me.

I am aware of the basic economic principles which can explain so much of our consumer behaviour. That's why I find these beastmaker things really interesting, they're so simple and easy to make.

Unless you're a total retard, you should be able to perfectly replicate one of those things in a very short time. So, why do people buy them?

I reckon many otherwise rational people allow marketeers to appeal to their primitive belief in magic ju-ju. When the beastmaker makers start spraying on about "unleashing the beastpower harboured within your loins", it kinda short circuits its way around the bit of your brain which would normally think "hang on a sec, thats just a block of wood with a bunch of slots routed into it.......no way am I paying 200bucks for that chunk of shit!"
