Yep it seems that the know i'm talking about would be the 'abnormal figure 8 knot' - thanks for pointing out the site. I don't use it for raping as a general rule, but have used it many times when rapping with a french friend of mine who insists it is the best. I always made sure it was nice and tight, and it didn't seem to cause any problems. But i'll give it a miss in future.
Of course this problem is unlikely to occur when used as a tie in know for a second climbing in the middle of the rope, and the third falls off, cause it is unlikely to 'roll back' all the way over the inline climber! (not that i'm being overly pedantic now or anything:) |
