I'd have to agree with rod in that if you want a major highway though the mts, then this is probably the
'least worst' option with regard to gobbling up more environment space. The alignment options off the
darling causeway, or along bells line would have had a huge impact in relatively pristine areas.
However, if I was going to throw 600 million at the problem I'd be looking at upgrading the rail link, and
putting a freight terminal at Lithgow. It'd provide a nice source of emplyoment for the town, that would
continue into the long term coal as becomes an even dirtier word... |
