Suggesting that by equiping a route with safer anchors in fact makes the chances of a fatality greater is a crazy statement. Should we then not rebolt any routes as horrible looking old carrots will deter people from climbs there by reducing traffic and the chances of an accident? The BBB is a line will attract heaps of traffic so lets make it as safe as possible.

Carrots are not ideal the sooner we can replace them with rings and Us the better - I commend you Mikl for all your efforts and investment of time and money.

PS I remember being very scared clipping every second carrot with wires on I Must Go Down To The See Again because I didn't have the required 24 brackets for all the carrots - then I saw some poms who had done the route with only 6 brackets that they used mainly on the belays! Now tell me carrots make for safer climbing.

PPS For anyone who climbs BBB in the future how about you donate the $50 you save on having to buy 10 more boltplates to Mikl.
