I've climbed at Mooanarie quite a bit, have never taken any electronic means of communication but
wouldn't denigrate anyone who did. When I've had the place to myself, or to a climbing partner and
myself, I tend to put a little extra thought into the choice of route and how to go about it. You can't help
bad luck but at least you can do something about the subjective dangers. Some of the old climbs are
wandery and it can be difficult to stay on route (ie. they're adventurous!) They're also graded at about half
what they would be today.

I also watch out for brown snakes at this time of year. You don't see many, but I've seen a few. I see
more carpet/diamond pythons up there - they're cool!
