In SA, The Black Hole of Calcutta (8) at the R end of Checkers Wall at Moonarie is a must for any
bumbly. Pitch 1 is OK, maybe a little bushy. Pitch 2 is technical wide stemming up to a deadly boulder
field. Pitch 3 is a poorly protected crawl along one of those horizontal scoop systems you get high on
Checkers. The highlight of pitch 4 is a jump across the void to grab a spindly bush. So far so good, but
things get ugly on pitch 5, a vertical 20m fully-enclosed squeeze chimney.
After all that, I'd recommend taking the bumbly down to the Bluff for some relaxation. Jump on a 13 like
Waddle of the Duck. |
