Did 18mths there. Not so great for the outdoor climbing. Bukit Timah is OK if you are desperate for a climb. I was! Climbing walls are mainly outdoors! In the sun! They don't like floor anchors so if you are a fat bastard like me you lift your little Singaporean belayer off the ground a fair way every time you fall. Bukit Timah is dangerous after rain, falls apart. Good partying if you can afford it. Yeah - Thailand is close. Some OK stuff in Malaysia. Good X-country MTB racing scene - something to look forward to on the weekend apart from the 4 floors of whores at Orchard Towers.
