does that make it alright for anyone to take gear from the bottom of a cliff if they 'think' it might belong to a friend? even if there are still many people at the crag and they have not checked with everyone there that the clothes belong to them. The value of the gear was not insignificant and i cant see any guide group attempting to find the rightful owners of gear they have taken from the base of the crag that doesn't belong to them or their clients. If they take it and dont make an effort to return it, is that theft?

If they've taken gear from the crag it is not unreasonable to expect that they would post the gear back at their expense(which they did begrudgingly) and apologise. Instead, they requested that i pay for postage and when i objected, made me feel like I was doing the wrong thing by them, and that they had in fact done me a favour! I wouldnt be posting here if they had apologised and sent it back promptly, but it seems the attitude of this company is just plain bad.
