Consider it beared in mind. I do perspire and perhaps more than most as I have the unfortunate habit of getting nervous before some/most climbs (probably due to competition climbing & its after effects), leading to greased fingers & palms. So it was easy to convince myself that I had a valid reason for 'needing' chalk nomatter the conditions. But I learnt pretty quickly that there are other ways of dealing with it (as mentioned by Sabu) and it's really not that hard if you take is as fact that you will not use chalk from now on. I still use it indoors by all means but when I'm outdoors it's just not part of my thought process or my climbing life.

Obviously to each their own but please don't profess the cop-out that sweating ruins the climbing experience & the only way to combat it is by using chalk.

And by no means is chalk use the most severe of disgusting of outdoor offences, it's just something that has an impact & can be avoided. I know when I rock up to a crag, the experience is enhanced by what looks like clean natural rock that adds to the adventure of the sport. It also detracts from the climb when the moves are dotted all the way up. But all this is personal preference - it also sux that holds & consequently climbs will deteriorate and look like utter crap over time when ppl like us who enjoy the sport don't take measures to preserve it.

Anyway you all know my stance on this so I'll shut up and go back to work now. Just adding my 2 cents... haha as usual.

Steph
