Sandbagging - the confusion (of a grading system) created when one climber, believing they are pretty good, purposefully proposes a grade that's not so good - so that everyone who tries their route thinks he/she must be good. This is based of course on the (said) climbers belief that they will never be that good again - the assumption of which, is pretty damn good. So instead of trying to be better, they make out as if they were unbelievably good all along - which of course, they weren't. |
