The orinetation of the quick draw binners will depend on wether you clip from above (in front) or below (from behind). Im a little short so my prefered way is to have my gates opposing before clipping. This allows me to clip the hanger/plate from the front, but I have to then spin the binner so the gate is facing away from the rock. If I have the gates facing the same way in the quick draw then I can clip from below or underneath the hanger/plate and does not require turning of the binner. However I have to reach higher with my wrist in order to make the clip. This way is quicker and great with fixed hangers that have been placed well.
The rope should be orientated in the bottom biner depending on the direction of climbing. If the route or move tends too the right then the rope should be feed throught the binner form left to right so that it does not fall across the gate when there is a fall.
